Plan your journey with real-time weather forecasts along your route
Start Planning βClick the "Start Routing" button on the map to begin planning your journey.
Enter your start and end locations using the address search. The autocomplete will help you find the right place.
Select your preferred transport mode: π Driving or π΄ Cycling. The route and weather waypoints will adjust accordingly.
Click "Calculate Route" to see your journey path and weather forecasts at key points along the route.
Click on the colored waypoint markers to see detailed weather information at that location, including temperature, precipitation, wind speed, and humidity.
Use the time selector to see how weather conditions change throughout the coming few hours. The precipitation overlay updates automatically.
The colored overlay on the map shows precipitation intensity in millimeters per hour (mm/h). Use the legend toggle button on the map to show or hide this legend.
The colored dots along your route show weather conditions at evenly-spaced points. Each marker displays an icon and temperature above it. Click any marker to see a detailed forecast popup with temperature, precipitation, wind speed, humidity, weather conditions, and expected arrival time.
Marker colors follow a priority system: If precipitation is present (> 0 mm/h), the marker uses a blue gradient where intensity increases with precipitation amount (normalized up to 5 mm/h). Otherwise, the color is based on temperature as shown below.
Freezing temperatures - Blue (#60a5fa)
Chilly conditions - Light Blue (#a5b4fc)
Pleasant weather - Green (#4ade80)
Comfortable warmth - Yellow (#fbbf24)
High temperatures - Red (#f87171)
Blue gradient (intensity = precipitation / 5 mm/h, max 1.0). Gradient ranges from light cyan to deep blue based on precipitation intensity.
Icons are determined by WMO weather interpretation codes and displayed above each marker along with the rounded temperature:

JourneyWeather is an open-source application that helps you plan your journeys with comprehensive weather information. It combines real-time precipitation data from meteorological services with detailed weather forecasts along your route, giving you the information you need to make informed travel decisions.
The application uses standardized WMS (Web Map Service) protocols to access weather data, ensuring compatibility with various meteorological data sources. Weather forecasts are provided by Open-Meteo, while routing capabilities are powered by OpenRouteService.
